Healthy Breakfast Smoothies

The key to a healthy breakfast is starting your day off with healthy fats.  To optimize fat burn, one must feed the body fats in the morning when you are most hungry, which is also the time when your cortisol levels should be highest.  Eating something high in sugar will spike insulin.  Cortisol is telling the body to put sugar in the bloodstream, and insulin tells the body to get sugar out of the blood stream.  Based on this, spiking your insulin early in the morning when cortisol is high will only lead to decreased metabolic function and insulin insensitivity … aka Diabetes.

The trick to making a good smoothie is to add one or more of each of these selections:

Healthy Fat:   Coconut Oil, Avocado, Nuts, Butters, Seeds etc
Anti-Oxidants: Berries, Low Sugar Fruits. (Darker the Color, the better.)
Greens:  Frozen Kale, Frozen Spinach, etc
Enzymes: LifeTime Brand LifeGreens, Shakeology
Anti-Inflammatories: Turmeric, Ginger (root or powders), or LifeTime Brand Curcumin pills
Protein: Nuts, LifeTime Brand Protein Powder, Shakeology.
Optional: Himalayan Sea Salt (to regulate Blood Pressure)
